Unrepentant sin (Isaiah 1:15): “When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!”
Selfish motives (James 4:3): “When you ask, you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”
Lack of faith or doubt (James 1:6-7): “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”
Asking contrary to His will (1 John 5:14): “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
